LSCOBA Match Report - Winning Eleven 1 KLC 0

First match of the season. Winning Eleven is back to where they belong - the Premier Division. After going 10 consecutive matches without a win (or a draw), this 1-0 win is a good sign for the team which has been reinforced by the "signings" of Ken and Fai.

Fielding our new signings right from the start, we dominated the first 15 mins and created a number of half chances in the first half. It was inevitable that our stamina began to drop in the last 15 minutes of the first half, allowing KLC to get back into the game.

At the start of the 2nd half, 4 of our starting forwards found themselves sitting on the bench including Sing, Kevin, Po and me. Whilst on the sidelines, I discussed with my teammates and we agreed that we should gamble for 3 points rather than settle for 1 point. After the 15 minutes mark, we decided to send one Po who play a free role attacking their full backs. Sing hold the midfield together. Kevin (later substituted by Kenward) and I played upfront.

The change of formation to a flexible 4-3-3 paid dividends soon. A cross from Raymond eluded me, and the ball fell at the feet of Po. Po steered the ball goalwards at the 2nd attempt and although the keeper did get a touch of the ball, the ball still went in. It turned out to be the winnig goal of the match.

After the goal, KLC played more offensively but it also left a large gap at their back. Our 3 forwards tactic continued to create chances after chances, and I have wasted 3 chances to extend our lead. 2 shots from 18 yards were saved low by the keeper while an easy shot from 10 yards were ballooned over the bar. My excuse? Well, I didn't score in the first match of last season, but I ended up with 11 goals from 7 games, so there!

All in all, we have done our business and it was a game we deserved to win, and we did win.
